Context
What if vampirism were a biotech service, sustained through the blood of others?
In this scenario, life extension is possible, but only if you can afford it. A biotech company called Sanguis Labs offers The VITAL Protocol, a treatment that slows aging through regular blood infusions from human donors. Inspired by real research into plasma transfusions and anti-aging medicine, this future imagines blood becoming a controlled resource and longevity becoming a luxury for the wealthy. In this future, vampires are not a myth, but a new elite class sustained by the blood of others.
Possible–Plausible–Probable cone
Due to current healthcare disparities and the widening income gap, a person’s ability to receive quality care is frequently influenced by their financial situation. Wealth often determines access to better insurance, better treatment options, and even life-saving care. Many treatments that can extend or improve life are already locked behind expensive paywalls. This scenario pushes that reality forward into a future where longevity itself becomes a biotech service that only the wealthy can afford.

The Matrix
This matrix looks at how a society built around blood-based life extension might work. Vampires are used as the framework because they are usually imagined in the past or present, rarely in the future. If vampirism were real, it would likely appear not as myth but as a form of biotechnology controlled by those who could afford it. In that world, the wealthy could extend their lives and hold onto power across generations, while others keep the system running that sustains them. Rather than drinking blood to stay alive, these vampires drain the blood of others.
